Dear Professor. Szondi,
I do know people who does hardcore space plasma physics and uses g77
exclusively with IDL for image processing and the results are published in
peer reviewed journals like Geophysical Research Letters(GRL) and I am sure
that it doesn't have all the features mentioned in the email. But tho I use
lf95(only compiler/software which is not *free* in my list!), I personally
support Free Software Foundation which have done soo much good for people who
had to deal previously, with just the executables of programs (blackboxes)
and no access to source codes and enables an average user to just download the
source or binary or as .rpm file and install variety of goodies and it's alll
achieved in the spirit of this openness. Not complaining, but just voicing my
support for GNU/FSF(with due respects to you and your remarks, of course) :-)
best,
raj kombiyil
