I was referring mainly to timings on other platforms. I did use the LF95
profiler once, and if I remember correctly, it wouldn't lump timings for
things like exp(), so I had to look at each line. It seems to me that I
didn't consider the LF95 profiler useful enough for my purposes to put much
effort into learning it better.

I'm glad to hear that you have found the LF95 implementation of exp() to be
quicker than most. My impression from that brief profiling exercise was
that exp() was still a relatively expensive operation; thus, any
improvement would have a pretty big impact on overall execution speed.
