I agree with you. I started using wisk a week ago and in a few days I had
learned how to use the library to build sophisticated GUIs. Its easy to
learn and use. I was so impressed and I was prompted to buy the full version
of winteractor. What I found is that the full version has a lot to offer
including simple visual building tools for menu's, dialogs, graphics, icons,
tools etc. For those who are not interested in learning other languages,
this could be the best way to go.

Yes, there are other tools available for creating GUIs and embedding
Fortran DLLs. I myself use Sybase's (formerly Powersoft's) PowerBuilder
(PB) and call DLL functions created with LF90/95 without any problems.
Implementation is very easy.

However there's one thing to consider: learning VB, Delphi, PB or any other
tools for creating GUIs usually take a significant amount of time (I am not
speeking of hours - it usually takes you a copule of days, weeks, sometimes
several months until you rule your tool - if ever !!!).
Do also consider how often you will use a GUI tool. If you use it once in
an while, you might forget how to use it. I think, they are very useful, if
you use them on a regular basis.

Fortran programmers who want to avoid to get envolved into a new
programming system for creating GUIs, I would advise to use
WiSK (coming with LF90/LF95)
or the full Winteracter
or Bradly Associates GINOMENU & MENUSTUDIO.
Salford's ClearWin+ also earns a recommendation, however it doesn't leave
you a chance ever to change the compiler (if this is good or bad depends on
your view). To work with these can be learned within a few days. I have
used all of them.

Hope this helps.

Greetings!
