At work, We have a program compiled with LF90 v3.50a on Windows 95 that worked on Windows 2000 until after the installation of Service Pack 4 (possibly SP3, but I believe SP4). I read in your last newsletter that one of the Windows 2000 security patches broke code from LF90. Is that also true for LF90 v4.5? Your web site product description still lists v4.5 as being compatible with Windows 2000.

I have LF95 v5.6h at work from an earlier upgrade. Are executables compiled with that version still compatible with Windows 2000 Service Pack 4? I may have to requalify this software, and it obviously has to be recompiled. One issue is that if I change even one line of code, it makes the requalification effort much more onerous under our procedures. Since the program compiled and ran with LF v3.50a, I am trying to figure out which compiler has the most likelihood of success without changing any source code. Thanks!

LF90 v4.5 is compatible with Windows 2000 SP4.

LF95 v5.6 is compatible with Windows 2000 SP4.

Can you confirm that the Security Update for Microsoft Windows (835732) described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-011 (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms04-011.mspx) was the cause of executables built with LF90 v4.0 or v3.x not working any longer on Windows 2000? I need this information to file a "Software Problem Report" with our Software Configuration Management group. Thanks!

Lahey can not confirm the this particular Security Update is the cause. Because of the age of LF90 v4.0 and v3.0 we never QA tested them on Windows 2000 or XP.
