i am running mandrake 10.1 with a 2.4 kernal and i am trying to install lf95 express v6.2. i cannot get the install script to work. i open a root window and the cd seems to be mounted, but i permission errors when i try to execute it. if i copy the script to another directory i can at least get it to start. should i copy all the files to that directory and see if that will work. help...doc

Please note that LF95 v6.2 has not been tested on Mandrake 10 or kernel 2.4 at this time. See the README file for a list of tested/supported operating systems.

Since it is a permission denied error try to change the mount of the CD so that you have permission to run the script. If you can't change the permission you may have to copy the CD contents to your hard drive and run the install from there.

this is very frustrating. i had to get the mandrake 10.1 because i was told on another forum that the red hat distribution was too old and would not deal with any up to date hardware, now i am told my linux is to new for the compiler. i hope this thing can be made to work. thanx...doc

User was able to install after changing permissions of the CD mount.

Hello maddoccanis,

This is a common problem for installation in some recent distributions with 2.4 or 2.6 kernels. I've had the same thing for installing LF95 Pro in a Fedore Core 1 box (2.4 kernel).

I just copied everything to a temporary directory and executed the install script from there ... it worked like that.
