We have a bnformatted binary file we need to access with some old utilities. The utilities were compiled in the early 1990's. so a very old version. Looks like we have a 2 GB or 4 GB file size limit for files being accessed by this utility.
Has this limit been broken? Which version of Lahey (for DOS) breaks it. (we have 5.60g).
Thanks Nick

The file size limit was raised from 4 gigabytes to about 16 exabytes (2**64) in version 5.7b.

Wow, I don't think I really can grasp a number that large ... the only way I can think about it, is that the jump from 4 GB to 16 EB, is the same magnitude as the jump from 1 byte to 4 GB.
I guess in 30 years or so, we'll be back, complaining that we need 2**128 ... though I don't think there is a word to describe this number of bytes ....
5.7 ... oh, yet another trip to accounting ...
Thanks, Nick
