Visual Studio: Debugger does not recognize initialized variables

Symptoms
When debugging an application, initialized variables, such as:
INTEGER :: I=0
cannot be viewed in the Autos, Locals, or Watch windows.
Cause
Bug in Visual Studio Fortran integration.
Workaround
None.
Status
Fixed in v7.0.1 maintenance update.
