How do I use extended ASCII characters in the ED editor?

To use extended ASCII characters in the ED editor, take the following steps:

* Set the font to "Terminal" (apparently this is the only default Windows fixed-pitch font that supports extended ASCII).
* Type Ctrl-] (hold down Ctrl and hit the ] key). This is the shortcut for Edit|Verbatim Character.
* Make sure NumLock is on.
* Type Alt-0[code] where [code] is the extended ASCII code you want.

So for the character "é", for example, type: Ctrl-] Alt-0130
